Telenor Digital and Telenor Global Services merge to create a new growth company
Telenor ASA has decided to merge the two companies Telenor Digital AS (TD) and Telenor Global Services AS (TGS), to create one new global unit enabling Telenor to take new positions in connectivity and beyond. As one company, TD and TGS will combine telco and software competence and assets to accelerate the digital transformation of core telco services, while at the same time create a platform for new service innovation and growth.
As two global units in Telenor, TD and TGS offer a broad set of products and services, serving as a gateway to the Telenor Mobile Operators. Currently, TGS operates and delivers core telco services such as international voice, messaging, and data roaming for Telenor. TD on the other hand is a pure software company, developing cloud-native solutions connecting mobile operators and digital service providers, globally. Together, the new company will leverage the best of both organisations to create a solid foundation for growth.
Stig Atle Waagbø, CEO of the new company says, “This merger is a truly progressive move, with opportunities to create new revenue streams in Telenor. The new company must continue to keep relentless focus on operations and serving our business units, while at the same adopt a challenger mind-set, focus on value creation, and dare to explore new business models and services”.
The new company will continue to be fully owned by Telenor Group, playing a key role in the Beyond Connectivity agenda. It will engage 190+ people, with an estimated yearly revenue of approx. 2 BNOK. The headquarters will be at Fornebu, with offices in Sweden, Poland, Dubai, Pakistan, Thailand, Singapore and Norway. The new company will report to Group Holdings with Ove Fredheim as the Chairman of the Board. The new company is planned to go live on 1 June 2022. More information to follow.
