: Telenor is now introducing two new speeds for SHDSL, the broadband that offers equal speeds for up and downloading of data. Business customers will now be offered access to SHDSL with 4 or 8 Mbit/s speeds.

"These new SHDSL products will make Telenor very competitive in the top segment in the SME market, where high bandwidth and high speeds for both up and downloading are in demand," said Rolv-Erik Spilling, Market and Portfolio Director at Telenor Business.

SHDSL (Symmetric High-Bitrate Digital Subscriber Loop) secures symmetric speeds for both downloading and uploading of data files over the Internet. SHDSL is particularly well suited to the business market, where the capacity for uploading large quantities of data is important, both internally within businesses and to externals.

Telenor first introduced SHDSL in 2003, but so far, 2 Mbit/s has been the highest speed available. As of 1 July this year, Telenor doubled the speeds for most ADSL products for the business market, without altering its charges.

Telenor's new SHDSL products can be ordered from Customer Services 05000, or through Telenor's nationwide network of dealerships. Along with the new SHDSL options, Telenor also offers a "Prioritised Error Recovery" service, which ensures error recovery within six hours, for a monthly fee of NOK 249. Since SHDSL is currently only available within a certain geographical distance from the nearest phone exchange, Telenor also offers extended range, allowing businesses outside the normal area of coverage access to SHDSL by adding several wire pairs in the telephone cables.

Here is the new SHDSL portfolio:
