At Telenor, we strongly believe in telecommunications as an enabler of the exchange of ideas and access to information. We also recognise the existence of human rights challenges in some markets where we operate. Respect and continuous improvement are therefore important to our approach to human rights.

Respect

Respect for human rights is integral to our business. This is clearly stated in our policies, and we aim for continuous improvement through raising standards.

Mitigate

At Telenor we use due diligence as a way to identify and address human rights challenges. This requires a long-term perspective, continuous improvement and stakeholder dialogue.

Directives from authorities in Myanmar – February 2021-February 2022

On Monday 1 February, a state of emergency was declared under military leadership in Myanmar. The situation in Myanmar is irregular and uncertain, and the authorities are establishing procedures for issuing directives towards operators.
